Banksy has revealed a new artwork beside Kew Bridge

Aug 6, 2024
A Banksy has appeared on the side of a building on the Kew Green side of Kew Bridge. The piece depicts a goat perched on a ledge as rocks fall, and features a real CCTV camera, which is pointed at fallen rocks. The artist did not caption his art leaving many to offer their own interpretations.
ONE GOAT
The wall mural has received positive praise from locals and many have posted their views on Banksy’s Instagram. Some suggested the goat on a precipice represented the human race ‘on the edge of extinction’.
Others have made the link to a scapegoat. ‘The goat represents the rebellious spirit of those feeling marginalised or oppressed, fighting against perceived injustices and systemic issues. It also symbolises the scapegoating of certain groups during times of social unrest.’ Banksy confirmed the artwork was by him on Instagram.
Other interpretations include several making the connection with GOAT (greatest of all time). ‘The United Kingdom was once GOAT but now standing on the cliffhanger as the world watches.’
TWO ELEPHANTS
The artist, whose identity is unknown, unveiled a second artwork in London, the following day (6th August). The second piece depicts two elephant silhouettes with their trunks stretched out towards each other out of blocked out windows - also in West London - on a building in Edith Terrace, Chelsea, SW10. View the elephant artwork on Banksy's website.
THREE MONKEYS
'Three monkeys' is the third Banksy artwork in three days. Banksy posted another artwork in London (7 August), making the third piece of a new animal-themed collection.
FINAL COUNT:  Nine animal artworks in nine days.
BBC:  Nine days of Banksy, but what do the works mean?
