Barons Court, London, W14

Dec 5, 2011
The name Barons Court is believed to have been devised by Sir William Palliser, who owned and developed the land, formerly part of a large agricultural holding. Use of the name to attract potential house buyers may have been suggested by nearby Earls Court or possibly in allusion to the Court Baron held by the Lord of the Manor, the Bishop of London. Barons Court Underground station is the only station on the entire Underground network to have wooden benches with the station name along the back on enamelled metal panels. Barons Court also boasts to be home for one of London’s finest butchers -  H G Walter. Barons Court is well known for its infrastructural convenience with excellent transport connections into and out of London combined with a high volume of late 19th century ornate mansion  buildings housing large two and three bedroom apartments, some with access to garden squares and a tennis court. Barons Court is bordered by the Talgarth Road to the north,  Central Fulham to the south, West Brompton to the east and Hammersmith to the west.
