St Saviour Wendell Park was built in 1894 for £5,800 and its attached iron mission hut was in use in since 1886 by Rev. Alfred Long of Christ’s Church Lancaster Gate serving the unemployed with hot soup, clothes and tea that was provided by the residents of his parish in Lancaster Gate. Starch Green & Ravenscourt Park conservation area used to offer one of London's last legal dog ponds.
