BBC charts music making in The Power House property in Chiswick

Aug 18, 2012
Cultural commentator and music journalist Paul Morley ventures to Chiswick, West London to visit one of the last major studio complexes to be built in the heyday of the music industry.  Making Tracks is a new BBC Radio 4 series charting the history of popular music through the studios it was recorded in. Recording stars such as Adele, Amy Winehouse, George Michael and Queen all made iconic tracks at Metropolis Studios, in local landmark The Power House on Chiswick High Road. The Power House was set up as a recording studio in the late 80’s and it seems it’s one of the last of a dying breed. So Its timely that this slice of Chiswick's history has been captured by the BBC before it disappears forever. So how do you go about creating a world-class facility frequented by Rihanna? And how do you keep it going when all around you are closing their doors? Listen on BBC iPlayer: http://www.bbc.co.uk/i/b01lhgw0/
