Mar 12, 2016
English Heritage is commemorating the 150th anniversary of its Blue Plaque scheme this year. To mark the event it is unveiling several new plaques marking the homes of famous people in West London including comedian Tommy Cooper, who lived in Barrowgate Road, Chiswick. Other famous west London faces to be commemorated include playwright Samuel Beckett, rock star Freddie Mercury, cookery writer Elizabeth David and actress Ava Gardner. Blue plaques are only given to those who have been deceased for more than 20 years. The latest plaques are to be unveiled later this year. There are long-standing Blue Plaques located in Grove Park Terrace, Burlington Gardens, Chiswick Lane South etc. to name a few.
