Chiswick Olympian wins bronze in Paris

Three years ago, Georgia Bell was just another runner at Gunnersbury Park, enjoying a parkrun at the height of the Covid-19 pandemic. Fast forward to August 2024, and Georgia’s life has transformed dramatically, culminating in a stunning bronze medal win in the 1500 metres at the Paris Olympics.
It’s a story that she says feels almost too fantastical to be true, yet it is one that the Chiswick-raised athlete has lived with determination, grit, and an undying love for running.
Georgia was not always on track for Olympic greatness. The 30-year-old, who grew up attending St. Mary’s Roman Catholic Primary School in Chiswick, Sacred Heart High School in Hammersmith, and Cardinal Vaughan Memorial School in Shepherd’s Bush, had turned her back on athletics after a promising start as a junior.
Injuries had dampened her passion for the sport during her time at the University of California, leading her to retire and pivot to a career in cyber security.
