Chiswick Riverside has a number of historic sites most of which were developed during the 20th century. Cubbitt’s Yacht Basin off Hartington Road was originally the ornamental lake for Grove House. During the First World War a canal and lock were constructed to build concrete barges and float them into the Thames. This area has now been renamed Chiswick Quay. Chiswick Staithe was constructed in 1966 on land that was part of the famous osier beds. Hartington Court was built in 1938 and replaced the fantastic red brick mansion named Grove End.
