Coachmaker Mews, Bedford Park Borders, Chiswick, London, W4

Apr 13, 2011
Coachmaker Mews is situated in the locality of Bedford Park Borders within the area of Chiswick. Early records show that the area was first named South Farm which sprung from the chief manor of Sutton. In 1547 there were 61 houseling people in the parish. 43 of these dwellings were deemed to be too poor to be assessed for health tax. Fortunately the area sought a complete revival as Chiswick originally known as ’Cheese Farm’, grew in prosperity during the mid 1850’s. Technically known by Ealing Council since 1861 as Bedford Park this area became immensely popular with house builders when the railway arrived as it was considered to be ‘the future’ of desirable living.
