Ealing Broadway, Ealing, London, W5

Dec 14, 2011
Archaeological evidence shows that parts of Ealing have been occupied for more than 7,000 years. Iron Age pots have been discovered in the vicinity on Horsenden Hill. The first census in 1599 showed Ealing as having only 85 households. Ealing Broadway is also home of the famous Ealing Studios. Will Barker bought the White Lodge on Ealing Green in 1902 as a base for film making, and films have been made on the site ever since. It is the oldest continuously working studio facility for film production in the world. It is best known for a series of classic films including Kind Hearts and Coronets (1949), The Lavender Hill Mob (1951), and The Ladykillers (1955). Since 2000, Ealing Studios has resumed releasing films under its own name, including the revived St Trinian's franchise, The Importance of Being Earnest (2002) and Shaun Of The Dead (2004). Ealing Broadway is regarded as the area within W5 best served by amenities and thus attracts much attention from both buyers and tenants due to the exceptional transport facilities combined with a wide diversity of retail ranging from high street names to bespoke boutiques.
