Is Home Staging worth it?
Sep 1, 2023
Home staging is the art of transforming a property into a beautiful home that will appeal to the highest number of potential buyers and tenants. Beautifully furnished and accessorised homes make it easier for potential buyers and tenants to visualise a property as their future home.
WHY IS HOME STAGING IMPORTANT?
“As much as homeowners want to sell their homes fast and at the best price, most of the time, very little it done to achieve that goal,” says Paloma Harrington, founder of the Home Staging Association (HSA).
“Homebuyers now spend more time looking at photos, videos and floorplans before arranging viewings, so presentation is more important than ever.”

According to HSA research, on average, staged homes spend half the time on the market than non-staged homes. Regarding return on investment, the average outlay of between 1- 3% of the home’s asking price, generates a ROI of 8-10%.
Home buying is determined by our emotions – the more beautiful and loved the home and the more we can envisage ourselves and our belongings there, the more we will want to buy it.
Gill Harper, Head Designer, Harpers of Chiswick: "It’s an obvious move for home owners and landlords and also for investors letting empty or furnished properties, or executors managing probate." Properties look bigger, brighter and more inviting:
• Better online images lead to a higher number of viewings
• Helps viewers envisage where to place their furniture and how it will fit
• Brings warmth, light, space and life to otherwise cold, unloved, empty rooms
• Makes cluttered or empty rooms look bigger
"Projects range from re-purposing a bedroom, creating a new kitchen layout, preparing a new property for the rental market, through to 'bare brick' refurbishment, we can help with it all."
