Throughout the months of May and June London Architecture Diary (
LAD) is teaming up with the London Festival of Architecture 2015 (
LFA) to stage over 200 architecture events across the city. The Diary has everything you need to navigate the capital’s architecture scene. The event takes in exhibitions, installations, talks and debates, conferences, film screenings, walks and tours. Here is a taster:
HAMMERSMITH LOOKING TO THE FUTURE
13 JUNE - 30 JUNE
ORGANISED BY: WEST LONDON LINK DESIGN
LYRIC SQUARE, HAMMERSMITH, W6 0QL
The A4 corridor currently bisects Hammersmith. A project to transform the area is currently underway putting the road into a tunnel and reconnecting the town to its riverside. Locally, the discussion is about how to replace the ageing Hammersmith Flyover and civilizing the traffic infested town centre.
HOLDEN GOES WEST
13 JUNE - 20 JUNE
ORGANISED BY: LONDON TRANSPORT MUSEUM
COVENT GARDEN PIAZZA, WC2E 7BB
Celebrate great design and join a popular walking tour. The Museum’s knowledgeable guides investigate the Piccadilly Line stations as examples of ‘British Modernism.’ Starting at Sudbury Town, and taking in Alperton, Park Royal and Acton stations we will explore how aspects of a busy Tube station were handled in the ‘Holden style’ design. (The tour also includes a brief excursion into the 1920s/30s Hanger Hill (Haymills) estate near Park Royal).
THE GREAT ARCHITECTURAL BAKE-OFF
27 JUNE 10:00 - 16:00
ORGANISED BY: WIMBERLY ALLISON TONG & GOO (WATG)
36-38 BOSTON HOUSE, FITZROY SQUARE, W1T 6EY
