'Motherland' queen-bee Amanda leaves Chiswick for SoHa
Feb 8, 2025
The Motherland spin-off 'Amandaland' sees school-gate diva Amanda (Lucy Punch) lose her wings and leave Chiswick following her divorce. The judgemental yummy mummy has a similar figure in her life… her own mother (played by Joanna Lumley).
WHERE IS AMANDALAND FILMED?
Amanda has downsized post-divorce to a flat and finds herself in the west London area of South Harlesden or as her estate agent refers to it 'SoHa'.
As with Motherland, parts of west London including shots along by the Thames, make it into the series. But in reality much of the filming for this area took place in north London’s Islington and Muswell Hill.
Crews did venture further out to Surrey and Oxfordshire for some location shots and an infamous outdoor car boot sale scene was struck by bad weather which saw the entire set blown away.
SIX EPISODES OF AMANDALAND ON BBC IPLAYER
No longer the playground queen bee, Amanda is trying to worm her way in with the cool mums. In this case it is Siobhán McSweeney (Derry Girls) as trendy chef Della and her free-spirited wife Fi, played by Rochenda Sandall (Line of Duty). Samuel Anderson plays Mal, Amanda’s already long-suffering downstairs neighbour who also has a teenage son.
