Moving home, as long as it is to an area you like such as Chiswick W4, may not be one of life's most stressful activities after all. Those who feel safe and good about their area have fewer health issues according to new research. Gallup and Healthways ask 1,000 American adults daily about their physical health and community perceptions as part of the Gallup-Healthways Well-Being Index. Those who felt either satisfied with their community or feel it is becoming a better place to live have Physical Health Index scores that are roughly nine points higher than those who do not. Wellbeing They are also in better physical health, being less likely to experience physical pain, to be obese, and to report having ever been diagnosed with high blood pressure or diabetes. Income, education and ethnicity are already associated with a person's wellbeing, but Gallup argues that this new research suggests that homeowners' perceptions of their communities is equally important when considering their health.
