We can’t all be part of the Chelsea Flower Show but we
can enjoy Chiswick’s own open gardens this weekend.
Chiswick Mall Gardens are only opened to the public once a year.
Explore their hidden secrets and a variety of styles, shapes and colours, set in this peaceful riverside location. See ancient trees and fabulous borders, wonderful planting and inspiring ideas. Opening information:
Sunday 29 May (2 - 6pm). Combined admission to the gardens is £6.00, children free. Homemade teas at 16 Eyot Gardens. The gardens are:
16 Eyot Gardens
Field House
6 St Peters Wharf
Swan House
The gardens are part of the National Gardens Scheme, when from March until October; you can visit 200 gardens in England and Wales. The gardens are open for charity, and keen gardeners have the opportunity to share their passion, while helping people in crisis.
The proceeds raised on the day go to a variety of
charities, and funding for trainee gardeners. Donations so far in 2016 have reached £2.7 million, a new record. Find out how to open
your garden, volunteer or
offer support.
Many of the houses along Chiswick Mall were built in the 1700s and the area and some of the named houses appear in the book Vanity Fair. Visit British History Online for the
history of the area.
