Strand grew as a fishing settlement with other river related industries, such as boat building and repairing, malting and laundering. When the area became fashionable in the mid-eighteenth century, some larger houses were built between the humbler cottages.
With the decline of industry the area became entirely residential and was unofficially renamed Strand on the Green . With much local help and protest the area was granted its modern name officially by the Post office in 1903.
It is well known for its village atmosphere and boasts some of Chiswick’s most popular pubs, village stores and restaurants. Generally quieter than central Chiswick and extremely popular with young families and couples due to the density of similar sized properties & property prices.
Strand on the Green is located on the North shore of the river Thames between Chiswick & Kew bridges, South of the A4/M4 and to the West of central Chiswick.
