The right way to hang your Christmas tree lights

Dec 10, 2016
Decorating the tree is a tradition many families look forward to, and many observe idiosyncratic rules regarding what goes where. However, most of us have been hanging the tree lights incorrectly, according to one expert. Francesco Bilotto claims the traditional method of wrapping them horizontally in circles around the branches is wrong. To get the most sparkle, he thinks they should be draped vertically instead, as this prevents the glow from getting lost in the middle of the tree. Bilotto told Today.com that the correct method is to start the top with the end that doesn’t have a plug and letting them hang to the bottom of the tree. Leave the plug at the bottom and if you need to use more than one strand, each one will plug into an adaptor. Next, pull the lights three to four inches to the right and work your way back up to the top of the tree. Watch the video demonstration. Who knew that we’ve been doing it wrong all along?
