West Chiswick was formally the orchards that extended from Wellesley Road to the railway line and extended to Chiswick High Road. As fruit prices began to fall the land owners decided to build houses to generate income. In 1935 a small amount of the orchard remained which was the site of the development known as Chiswick Village. Chiswick Village is a development of 15 blocks containing 220 flats that was built by the People’s Housing Corporation and was originally named in the plans as Chiswick Court Gardens. The development has received much acclaim over time.
Considered to be very convenient with excellent transport connections and some of Chiswick's more peaceful amenities such as Strand on the Green and the river Thames; West Chiswick offers a different type of Chiswick living and generally at a slightly lower price than central Chiswick.
West Chiswick is located North of Strand on the Green, East of Kew Bridge, South of the A4/M4 and West of the Kew Gardens to Gunnersbury railway line.
